2. How large are the Memory Cards provided with the digital camera rental?
We offer two choices for Memory Cards, a 2GB SDHD or a 4GB SDHD memory card. Each customer chooses the memory card appropriate for their specific event at the time they place their order.

Here is an estimate of the number of photographs each memory card will store:

2GB Memory Card:  537 Photos
4GB Memory Card:  1,066 Photos

Video: On average these memory cards will take anywhere from 3.8 to 7.6 hours of video recording. The actual recording length will be variable based on the video’s compression/quality setting and type of subject being captured.

*** As with any battery-powered video, battery life is always the limiting factor.  If videos are planned to be lengthy or multiple, we highly recommend renting a battery charger and/or AA lithium batteries.  Most people will take a combination of pictures and video at their event, ensuring your batteries remain charged become a very important factor.

TIP: We recommend the 4GB memory card, which will allow you to take as many pictures as you want. It is also our recommendation that you do not delete any pictures during the event; you will increase your odds of getting a masterpiece shot by taking as many photos as possible.  Since there is no film to develop, there is no price to pay for bad shots!

3. What type of batteries do you use?
Each camera uses 2 Energizer rechargeable nickel-metal hydride (NiMh) AA batteries.  They last much longer than alkaline batteries and are more eco-friendly.  Most point and shoot cameras come with a “brick” battery: a dark gray, lithium-ion rechargeable battery.  The problem with this is that you can’t replace them when you’re at your event and you have to recharge the battery by plugging in the camera.  This is unacceptable because you can’t shoot while the charging is going on.

Although rechargeable batteries are the best for the environment and what we recommend, if you ever need batteries for your digital camera, you can always go to the drugstore and purchase a set of photo lithium AA batteries.  Even though standard AA alkaline batteries work in our cameras, you should never use standard alkaline AA batteries because it will only give a small amount of usage time.

Green Note: The disposable lithium AA batteries do not support the ‘Zero Waste Philosophy’, which manages the entire lifecycle of a product and packaging and strives to eliminate wastes. Therefore, we will send 2 sets of fully-charged rechargeable batteries along with each digital camera.

4. What does HD mean? Is HD better?
HD stands for ‘high definition’.  High Definition is better because the picture is more ‘life-like’ due to more still photo frames per second (fps) and a higher resolution.  Our videos have a resolution of 1280 x 720 at 30 fps. This offers a crisp, clear picture resulting in amazing video.

5. Do all greenHDcameras take HD video?
Yes, all 0f our digital cameras take high definition videos.

6. How will my guest know how to operate the cameras?
These cameras are really easy to use.  Kodak cameras are known for being the industry’s easiest cameras to operate as well as for their high quality.  greenHDcameras purchased Kodak’s high definition digital cameras/videos to provide an easy to use camera/video with amazing picture quality.  Our cameras are as easy as “point-and-click”, and the results are outstanding!

Each digital camera has an attached instruction card explaining how to use them. Each camera comes set on the Smart Scene Mode, which will automatically do the “thinking” for you.  This camera captures stunning photos without camera experience.

We cannot modify orders after they are placed.  However, there is a chance we’ll be able to catch the order before it processes if you contact us immediately after you place the order and ask us to change it to reflect the correct information.

8. What happens if I ship the cameras/videos back late?
Because this is our business and we can’t rent our cameras/video out without our equipment, we need to make sure we receive them back in a timely manner.  Therefore, we have a late fee of $5 a day, per camera until day 10.  After day 10, if we have not received our camera /equipment back we will charge your credit card the Replacement Fee rate as mentioned below.

9. What happens if a camera or video is damaged, lost or stolen?
First, we can give you a few great tips on how you can minimize the probability of losing the cameras or having the cameras stolen while in your possession.  One way is to hand out the cameras to the people who you know and trust.  Another way would be to keep the cameras at a central location at your event (e.g. D.J. area, hostess station, etc.) and have someone check the cameras in and out with a sign-in sheet.

As far as damage control, we realize a few scratches here and there will happen but the cameras have to be sent back in good working condition and the lens cannot be scratched.  This is our business and if we can’t provide you with the same great high definition products we won’t have our business anymore.  If you are concerned about a camera getting broken, you can always purchase a “Damage Waiver” for the cameras at $7 per camera. This provides coverage so long as the cameras are returned.

We offer customers the option to purchase a “Damage Waiver”, which exempts them from financial liability as detailed in the waiver.  Customers who have not purchased the “Damage Waiver” will be held responsible for all expenses relating to the repair or replacement of the equipment, whichever is less.  The equipment must be returned to qualify.

Lost, stolen, and not returned is different. In the event that the digital camera or other equipment is lost, stolen, and otherwise not returned, the renting party will be responsible for expenses relating to the replacement of the missing equipment.  (Please see below for replacement fees)  The equipment will be deemed not returned after ten (10) business days have lapsed following the conclusion of the rental period.

Replacement fees are as follows:

  • $375 per camera
  • $175 per case
  • $200 per 80GB Portable data storage Memory Card
  • $25 per 2GB Memory Card
  • $50 per 4GB Memory Card
  • $100 per 8GB Memory Card
  • $35 per (2GB, 4GB) Memory Card Reader
  • $45 per (8GB) Memory Card Reader
  • $25 battery charger
  • $10 per set of premium batteries

11. What is the problem with traditional photography or film cameras?
The actual process of taking a photo is not an environmentally harmful process, especially in natural light.  However, developing the photographs uses the most resources, and possibly hazardous chemicals.  If chemicals such as bromine, acetic acid, iodine, lead oxalate, formaldehyde, ethylene diamine, silver nitrate, silver, and mercuric chloride, are not properly disposed of, they end up in sewage systems, and can contaminate soil and groundwater.
